Discussion thread:

Rens HD Shrines by Rengel

Fresh uload, so making a thread in case it gets by unnoticed. Which it shouldn't as the shrines look awesome on the screenshots.

What's outstanding and unique about this mod is that the author made the retextures with certain premeditation, looking at each shrine separately. Details descriptions are on the modpage. For example:

AKATOSH

I thought the vanilla one was too simple, I couldn't really see any detail at all. I noticed the file name was called akatosh hourglass so I decided to make that attribute stand out as the centerpiece of the shrine. Akatosh is the god of time, but the shrine wasn't striking enough.

I designed and added scales from scratch to his snake-like body which wraps around a spherical structure that is actually the hourglass of time; it now reflects light realistically like glass, and if you look closely you'll see sand falling just like a real sand hourglass.

Ren-Detail: The engraving on the sword reads 'Bormahu' which means father to the dragons; thought it would be a nice little detail.

I have to admit her shrine is quite nice in vanilla, however I think detail gets lost in its monochrome style.

Aedra of beauty, love and lust (some say), I decided to use more bold colors. I used black to make it elegant and captivating, followed by a darker purple and finally ends in pink, demonstrating its delicate femeninity.

Ren-Detail: Inside the pink petals, rests the water vessel. I added a little green leaf floating on top of the water.

He's (or she) added a little green leaf floating on top of the water... I am sold to such an attention to detail, and kept to the lore!

When I looked at the other mods by this author, I noticed we have never seen any of them, and they look really good!

::EDIT::

The normal textures (i.e. *_n.dds files - I think that's what they are, if I'm not right, someone correct me!) are not provided for Zenithar, Julianos and Dibella shrines, but I don't know what the implications are to be hones. Current STEP Shrines HD mod provides those however.

That looks interesting, but again, I cannot stress enough how important quality screenshots are. Unfortunately, this is yet another case of completely washed out borderline blurry ones. I mean, even if you don't have powerful PC, you should ramp up the graphic settings to maximum for this purpose.

If I simply accidentally ended up on that Nexus page, I'd probably skip the mod thinking it looks like crap.

I'd argue that it does not deviate on vanilla, but expand on it. It's true to the vanilla style, only added vriety in colouring, and in a logical, lore-friendly way.

I thought I liked MM's Shrines HD before.. and then I saw this. Let's just say I was blown away by the strong attention of detail the author payed to this mod. Put this in STEP, it really does need it.

She already posted what she said was high quality pictures but apparently with the same low ingame settings (at least that's the impression when I look on Nexus) :D

Actually those screenshots weren't taken with my computer and my 'low' settings (which they aren't). They were taken by a friend with a gaming PC on ultra high settings and ENB so it won't get better than that in my opinion. I've got really great responses from player's about them so, unfortunately, I won't be uploading any more screenshots.

However, you are very welcome to take your own screenshots and if you please, send them to me and I'll put them in my images. Either way, thank you so much for your feedback!!

Edit: I wanted to also thank everyone here showing their support, It makes me really happy you guys like it. ^__^

consider eventually to use a model viewer Ren....something like blender rendering or ( much better) 3dsmax or cinema4d if you can get a licence for students/teachers.... marmorset toolbag is another great option since is extremelly simple to use....would help(a lot) both making textures while you work applied on model and showing screenshots.

nifskope can help too... but just diffuse map is supported

So while I still really like the retexture I was using, having seen these in-game now they're really lovely (and work better with my current ENB imo, because it's already so dark). The hourglass looks great and the translucent water under the horn is gorgeous in particular.
