AMD Driver Beta 13.10 Lag Spikes?

Question

Posted

Hey Step Members,

I have a question to any AMD user out there with the latest beta driver.

Have you seen a lag spike on your gpu?

For example, when monitoring your gpu usage, do you see your usage spiking up from 30 to 50 to 70 to 90, and than a 1 to 3 second freeze. Even when you have a constant 60fps?

This has been bugging me, and I would like to know if this is a driver issue and nothing else.

I know I can always revert back, but by using the old drivers, Rome 2 is unplayable which is the main reason I upgraded to the Beta version.

Let me know if you have similar problems, Thanks

Hey Deathwing514!

You should post this question on CCC forums also. Someone may be able to tell you if it is a driver issue or not, however I am using that driver with a 7970 card and haven't noticed the issue you described. I'll take a closer look though when I get a chance.

No idea. Try 13.4 and see if it works. I personally never download AMD beta drivers. Their official releases are bad enough...you're just asking for headaches with the BETA drivers. Better to stick to the official releases. Ignore the BETAS. They never work right.

Well after a couple hours of trying to figure out the problem.

I realized the problem was not driver related, but a program that I installed that ate up more than half of my Ram memory.

This caused my game to freeze for a second randomly because of the lack of free memory.

So thanks everyone that contributed to this topic but the problem was not driver related but my own misdoing.
