Will a few "minor" script errors in my save kill my game?

Hello,

 

I am new to the forum but I've been following STEP closely for about a month.  I am running STEP 2.2.6 (which I've installed quite meticulously on my most recent install) along with some UNP and armor mods from Skyrim Revisited, but no ENB or anything serious outside of STEP.  I was getting occasional infinite load screens, so I tried reinstalling and switching mod managers.  After multiple installs and switching from Wyre Bash to MO and back to Wyre, I am finally settled on my mod list.  I removed Blood effects and Spell Effects due to the recent news about their script CTDs, but then I noticed my save games needed them and I couldn't get the scripts out of my saves, even following the Troubleshooting guide waiting 31 days, and using the Script cleaner here.  So I reinstalled both of those mods to avoid any problems (and to be honest I don't think I ever had a CTD due to them anyway).  I still have a few script errors in my saves.  I even tried a new game from Helgen and they are still there.  Will this make a difference?  Should I try and get rid of them or just deal with it and hope for the best?

Win8 Pro

3770k @ 4.6ghz

8gb RAM@ 2133

GTX 760 2GB Sli on a Dell 2560x1440

256gb Samsung SSD with OS and Skyrim etc.

 

Skyrim Launcher is set to Ultra with AAx4.  INI files are stock as I removed all the STEP ini tweaks to be sure they aren't causing my infinite loads I had.  I don't think they are the cause but I wanted to be sure.

I don't know for sure but enabling the SKSE .ini tweak "clearinvalidregistrations=1" may help.

 

But really, the save could be borked and it's general practice not to uninstall any .esp in a save you're still using.

The errors you singled out are harmless. Some mods (Wet&Cold, Footprints, etc.) run checks to see if you have supported mods installed, and if they are, support is enabled for them. If not, then harmless errors are produced.

Thank you WilliamImm.  Based on your modding experience I'd say you are more than qualified to answer this, thank you for responding.  It is good to know I can now play the game and enjoy it rather than worry about my save games and or start all over.

Does this actually remove the scripts? I used to have tons of script issues on a game that I had been using since 2011. I ran that command my file size shrank by half and it fixed my stuttering/freezing issues. Not sure if it actually removed the scripts or just does something else to clear it.

You can also open the console and type ClearInvalidRegistrations. May take a few minutes and you need to save when done.

It will run the command right away instead of waiting to clear it when the function is called. May take some time to go through everything though. It is also very helpful for clean saving anything that had a lot of scripts running if uninstalling or upgrading.

 

I guess I should put that on the wiki, but I did enough wiki stuff yesterday, and am not in the mood.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean what does it do in comparison to using the .ini tweak. I just meant in general, what is the clearinvalidregistrations command/tweak doing? Does it actually remove scripts that aren't being used?

Make sure you have:

 

[General]

ClearInvalidRegistrations=1

 

in SKSE.ini.

 

If you also have the new memory patch with that INI edit you shouldn't need to do anything. I made that post before the new memory patch came out for people with really bad saves.
