Question

Hello. I don't know where to ask for help about this two problems.
1. In my playthrough i noticed that there are black textures in the border of the loaded terrain grid (loaded grid?).
2. It appeared that my occlusion is messed up, I don't know what went wrong.

What I've done:
1. Regenerate xLODGen mesh output.
2. Regenerate Occlusion.esp from DynDOLOD after regenerating xLODGen mesh output.

Standing on top of Frostfruit Inn Rorikstead:

TKExy7lK_o.jpgWith LOD on (tll): notice the black terrain on the right side above the roof

CrV88sMT_o.jpgWith LOD off

lll0ljjd_o.jpgWith LOD on: notice the black terrain and occlusion hole on the left of the midleft trees

Mk6PtH7w_o.jpgWith LOD off

y89km1TA_o.jpgWith LOD on: more black stuff and distance occlusion holes

WPcMs5If_o.jpgWith LOD off

co7ISGHx_o.jpgWith LOD on: view from above with tfc

HXjQXxXn_o.jpgWith LOD off

OjZzsAEU_o.jpg

I don't know which logs are sufficient so I upload the whole logs folder and plugins and load order txt files:

Update on troubleshooting that I've done.
1. Clean save and uninstalling everything related to DynDOLOD and LOD
2. Creating new game and the black stuff and occlusion holes are still there
Starting to think that it might not be LOD issues, but vanilla issues.
3. Validating Steam files

it might be from one of my mods but for the love of the nine, I can't figure out which mod causes it

If Seasons of Skyrim SKSE is used, make sure to generate LOD - including terrain LOD with xLODGen - for all enabled seasons or disable LOD switching for a season in ..\Seasons of Skyrim\SKSE\Plugins\po3_SeasonsOfSkyrim.ini.

Thank you for the swift answer.

It turns out something was erred on the seasons terrain. While generating terrain for seassons with xLODGen the only options that are available are 'default' and 'WIN'. So I am missing my summer and autumn terrain LOD. I don't know why only give me those options and not all seasons though.

Fixed it by:
https://dyndolod.info/FAQ#Entire-LOD-missing
disable terrain LOD switching for a season in ..\Seasons of Skyrim\SKSE\Plugins\po3_SeasonsOfSkyrim.ini.

disable terrain LOD switching for a season in ..\Seasons of Skyrim\SKSE\Plugins\po3_SeasonsOfSkyrim.ini.

Upload the SSELODGen_log.txt when posting about about terrain LOD generation.

From Seasons-Readme.txt included in the xLODGen terrain LOD beta download archive:
The feature requires season swap files in Data\Seasons\*[SPR|SUM|AUT|WIN].ini.
A season in the drop down becomes available only if swaps for it have been found and loaded successfully.

That means when xLODGen was run, there either were no seasonal files for any of the other seasons in the ..\Data\Seasons\ folder, or none of their from/to swap definitions were valid records in the loaded plugins at the time.

If the swap data for a season does not swap any landscape textures, then not generating terrain LOD for that season and disabling the terrain LOD switching in the INI as you did is a good option anyways.

The main issue is that the generated swapfiles was only for WIN (from Seasons of Skyrim).
Possible cause is that I didn't install seasons mod (Turn of the Seasons or Seasonal Landscapes) as required by this reddit guide to generate the other swapfiles.

I didn't know that SoS is just a framework and needed another mod to generate swapfiles. The SoS nexus description page doesn't mention anything about the need for these mods. Except in the reddit guide which is posted in their 'posts' page in nexus.

I suggest to actually read the description of Seasons of Skyrim SKSE.

You uploaded a TES5LODGen_log.txt, which means xLODGen was run in TES5 mode for Skyrim LE, while being forced to use Skyrim Special Edition game, plugins.txt and INI folders and files..

Instead of doing something nonsensical, run xLODGen in SSE mode for Skyrim Special Edition. Read the first post of https://stepmodifications.org/forum/topic/13451-xlodgen-terrain-lod-beta-132-for-fnv-fo3-fo4-fo4vr-tes5-sse-tes5vr-enderal-enderalse, the Readme.txt included in the xLODGen terrain LOD beta download archive and https://dyndolod.info/Help/xLODGen.

I suggest to learn basic modding practice etc. by following a proper and recent modding guide from the ground up.

Several year old posts on social media might not be a good resource. While the broad strokes might still generally apply, details, mods and the  tools have changed.

Hello Sheson,

With the new version of Dyndolod, I am noticing issues with LoD. This is just outside, after exit from Raven Rock. The LoD flickers sometimes when I move towards/away from the coast, but it is mostly stays like missing chunks of landscapes.

I checked all the requirements, and of course everything is updated. Here are the log files:

Please let me know if you require any other information, I am using Skyrim SE 1.5.97 btw.

Thank you in advance for your help with this.

Moved to the appropriate thread for the problem. See posts above. See https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Use-Search

The screenshot matches what happens when terrain LOD meshes and textures are missing. This is probably related to seasons.

See https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Rudimentary-Troubleshooting
DynDOLOD output typically does not affect terrain LOD like that.

See all answers for https://dyndolod.info/FAQ#Entire-LOD-missing, in particular:

See https://dyndolod.info/Help/Seasons and https://dyndolod.info/Help/xLODGen

It doesn't seem to missing object LOD level 32 files, since those were generated.

Hello Sheson,

I do not have Seasons of Skyrim installed and I don't want to install it because then I have to install a host of patches and compatibility for landscapes and flora. In previous version of Dyndolod runs, I did see Seasons being enabled by default in the Dyndolod interface, but I would manually disable it and all seems good. I suspected it could be NAT III, but disabling NAT III, downloading a fresh copy of DYNDOLOD and running it also does not help, Seasons options is still enabled by default on the interface, which I think denotes that there is some mod that is enabling seasons? Let me check and get back to you, thanks

Read https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Rudimentary-Troubleshooting and report results.

There are mods in the load order than contain seasonal swap files, which enables the option in the interface. If there is no po3_SeasonsOfSkyrim.dll installed, also see the other answers for https://dyndolod.info/FAQ#Entire-LOD-missing.

Hi there, I was having a similar problem and I discovered through xedit that RWT placed an occlusion plane in the cell (5,10) in Solstheim.  I removed it from the esp (actually making a patch for it ie "copy as override into" is the best practice) and the issue was gone.  You can tell it's an occlusion plane issue because the objects disappear/reappear instantly at a point while you move instead of persisting for a bit before blinking out when at the same point as lod does.

Occlusion planes typically do not cause black terrain at the edges of the active cells. That is usually a sign of terrain LOD textures not loading or missing.

According to the provided information there are no Realistic Water Two plugins in the load order.

Ah, I see. My apologies for inserting my 2 cents, I was actually just referring to Kaizersoze27's post without the black edges, however I do see in the FAQ you posted that occlusion boxes and planes won't affect lod just loaded cells.  Thanks for pointing this out.

The screenshot https://postimg.cc/vcQrPPS5 seems to show black terrain at the edges of the active cells caused by missing terrain LOD.

Occlusion planes and boxes also hide LOD. What sentence in the FAQ do you believe says otherwise?

It is too bad we still haven't heard if disabling the DynDOLOD output makes a difference or not.
