rootsrat Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 This is absolutely amazing! Position Based Fluids is a way of simulating liquids using Position Based Dynamics (PBD), the same framework that is utilized for cloth and deformables simulation in PhysX SDK. Because PBD uses an iterative solver, it can maintain incompressibility more efficiently than traditional SPH fluid solvers. It also has an artificial pressure term which improves particle distribution and creates nice surface tension-like effects (note the filaments in the splashes). Finally, vorticity confinement is used to allow the user to inject energy back to the fluid. [video=youtube]http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=6WZZARzpckw
WilliamImm Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Wow. You know the blown away guy in the old Maxell ads? Well, after watching this, I feel like him. Makes me almost want to get a Nvidia card...
EssArrBee Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 The face rendering stuff they did at their last conference was pretty sweet too. I just hope AMD is around long enough to pushing nVidia to actually develop new tech for gamers.
