TechAngel85 Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Source: https://kotaku.com/disney-shuts-down-lucasarts-468473749 LucasArts is officially no more. My personal feelings on this is bittersweet. I feel for the 150+ employees that lost their jobs over this decision; however, LucasArts has failed to impress for some time now. The only games I played and thoroughly enjoyed wasn't even developed by them, but rather BioWare (Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2). I played The Force Unleashed games and though they were okay...they were just..."okay". They were very short games which could have been so much more. So am I upset with Disney? Nope, I can understand their decision on this. R.I.P LucasArts 1982 - 2013
rootsrat Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 :( Secret of Monkey Island is the game I learned English from in the first place, was about 10 or so... I spent nights and nights with dictionary in my hand trying to translate it! It's an end of an era to me...
Neovalen Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Damn. 1313 looked really good but you never know behind the scenes.
EssArrBee Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I'd say that LucasArts got stagnant there the last 5-6 years. I'm still skeptical about Disney taking over everything on the gaming side of things, but they did a great job with most of the Marvel movies, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt there. I remember when the fist few Dark Forces games came out, man I loved Kyle Katarn. Speaking of which, it's to bad the Dark Forces Mod was ended after about 6 levels.
PioneerRaptor Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 KoTOR 2 was developed by Obsidian :p. Anyways, it's always a shame to see a lot of people lose their jobs, but they just haven't been able to develop games very well in a long time. I believe it will be for the better in the long run as Disney will not license out the different licenses to more qualified developers.
