Not initializing, No MCM, DynDOLOD.esm, DynDOLOD.esp or Occlusion.esp not found

Question

Posted

I know this is similar to a post from 2019, but I'm having a very similar issue. I've used DynDOLOD successfully many times before but as of recently updating my 1.5.97 Skyrim SE to 1.6.640, I'm having an issue with DynDOLOD in-game. I followed GamerPoets video step by step multiple times but the issue still persists where I start a new game after running TexGen and DynDOLOD, activating the .esm and .esps in MO2, and when I load an exterior cell, there is no "DynDOLOD successfully initialized" message nor is there any DynDOLOD in MCM. However, the LODs from tree mods and new locations load in correctly.

I've read a couple Reddit posts about this along with the other similar post on this forum related to this issue and can confirm that I have troubleshot and verified the following:

-SKSE 64 v2.2.3 installed for game version 1.6.640

-PapyrusUtil installed

-SKYUI installed

-RaceMenu installed

-SSEEdit shows 2 quests in DynDOLOD.esp

-SHESON_DynDOLOD_Alias.pex, SHESON_DynDOLOD_Quest.pex and SHESON_DynDOLOD_MCM.pex scripts are installed

-Installed correct version of DynDOLOD DLL that corresponds to 1.6.640

-DynDOLOD_Output activated in MO2 along with DynDOLOD.esm, DynDOLOD.esp, and Occlusion.esp

-Mod list order (left side): DynDOLOD Resources SE -> DynDOLOD DLL - Scripts -> DynDOLOD DLL - DLL -> TexGen Output -> DynDOLOD Output

-Verified Generate DynDOLOD in the advanced options was checked

-Waited 20 minutes after new game and still no message appeared

I apologize for the long list, I just wanted to go ahead and throw out everything that I have checked and verified up to this point. I have tried to check the Papyrus log as well, as was mentioned in the other post. However, this has proven to be another issue entirely. I modified the [Papyrus] section of Skyrim.ini to enable logging, but after several times in-game, I still haven't had the logs folder appear in Docs->My Games->Skyrim Special Edition. I was able to check the DynDOLOD.log in Docs->My Games->Skyrim Special Edition->SKSE and it says:

"DynDOLOD Plugin 2.45.0 for Skyrim Script Extender 64 2.2.2 for Skyrim Special Edition 1.6.640.0"

Would I be correct in assuming that switching from SKSE v2.2.3 to 2.2.2 would solve the issue because of this log?

Again, I apologize for the lengthy post, I just want to make it clear that I have tried multiple things to fix this issue and have had no luck at all. Is this something simple that I am overlooking? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if I should provide screenshots Thanks!

Thank you for the quick reply! I'll look into the other errors. Regarding the plugins, that is strange. The plugins are "checked" thus activated in MO2. Maybe it has to do with MO2 then. Not loading the plugins. What do you think?

Start the game. In main menu open console and type help DynDOLOD, which should list QUST: DynDOLOD_MCM (xx00090F) and QUST: DynDOLOD_Quest (xx000911).

Did type help DynDOLOD in console at the main menu and in a new save and nothing shows up. Everything have the checkmark "checked" as if the mod is active in both the left and right pane.

Load order left pane:
PapyrusUtil SE v. 3.9
SKYUI v. 5.2SE
MCM Helper v. 1.4
RaceMenu v. 0.4.16
DynDOLOD Resources SE 3.00 v.Alpha-47
DynDOLOD DLL SE 3.00 v.Alpha-17 for Skyrim SE 1.5.X
...
Last in left pane
TexGen_Output
DynDOLOD_Output

Load order right pane:
SKYUI
MCM Helper
RaceMenu
...
Last in right pane
DynDOLOD.esm
DynDOLOD.esp
Occlusion.esp

SSEEdit shows the two quests in DynDOLOD.esp - QUST: DynDOLOD_MCM (xx00090F) and QUST: DynDOLOD_Quest (xx000911)

Check the DynDOLOD DLL NG folder and the scripts mentioned below are installed
SHESON_DynDOLOD_Alias.pex
SHESON_DynDOLOD_Master.pex
SHESON_DynDOLOD_MCM.pex
SHESON_DynDOLOD_ObjectActivator.pex
SHESON_DynDOLOD_Enebler.pex
SHESON_DynDOLOD_Plugin.pex
SHESON_DynDOLOD_Quest.pex

My skse64.log says the following regarding the DLL if that says you anything

checking plugin C:\Steam Outside of Program Files\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\SKSE\Plugins\\DynDOLOD.DLL
registering plugin listener for SKSE at 31 of 32
plugin C:\Steam Outside of Program Files\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\SKSE\Plugins\\DynDOLOD.DLL (00000001 DynDOLOD 03000110) loaded correctly (handle 31)

That means that game did not load the plugin that contains the quests.

Doublecheck Backported Extended ESL Support is installed and actually working by checking c:\Users\[Username]\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition\SKSE\BackportedESLSupport.log is listing all the plugins with version 1.71 including the DynDOLOD plugins.

Ran DyndoLod about 3 weeks ago, after getting all versions right, was able to complete and install. Ver 3.0... installed and removed a few mods so wanted to run it again. Everything seemed to go well, Installed TexGen output the the same folder, enabled in MO2. Same with DyndoLod, same folder, verified the files were the newer from 3 weeks ago. I have 253 active plugins.. when I load my saved game, it says "DyndoLod.esm, DyndoLod.esp, Occlusion.ESP and Synthesis.ESP not found"... They are there, and active, ran loot... load order has not changed. Is there anything I need to reset? I tried a clean save.. did not work. I started a new game and DyndoLod never loads. It is like MO2 just does not see the new files.

Any ideas are appreciated

Hi,

I'm running 1.6.640.0 with DynDOLOD Alpha-169, last week I ran across seeing  DynDOLOD DLL NG for the first time.

With SSE 1.6.1170 the  'Dyndolod successfully initialized' message does appear in the upper left of the screen but the message won't appear under 1.6.640.0.

I did use the different versions of DynDOLOD DLL NG for 1.6.1170 and 1.6.640.0.

In the MCM it does show it was  successfully initialized and active.

If I uninstall or disable DynDOLOD DLL NG in MO2 and rerun over TexGen and DynDOLOD the 'Dyndolod successfully initialized' message reappears.

I have two versions of SSE 1.6.640.0 for MO2, one has all the mods updated and the other one isn't. With both versions I see the same thing, as soon as I install DynDOLOD DLL NG, the message won't appear.

I've attached a screen shot showing it ok in MCM under 1.6.640.0.

THANKS

So you need to install the correct versions of all software/mods to correspond with whatever game version you are running. You environment is a factor as well, so this is really a question about meeting the requirements of DynDOLOD + DynDOLOD DLL NG and is hereby redirected to DynDOLOD support where you will get links to suggested reading.

Providing your logs will convey a lot about your environment, so take a look at the logs needed (and requirements) in the DynDOLOD Alpha OP. Also, read all text on the official requirements.

Read https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Post-Logs which DynDOLOD log and debug log to upload when making posts.
Also upload the papyrus logs as explained.
Also upload c:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\My Games\[Skyrim Special Edition|Skyrim VR]\SKSE\DynDOLOD.log as explained at https://dyndolod.info/Help/Large-Reference-Bugs-Workarounds#Testing

It is unclear how the game is started. The message is supposed to only shows once when starting a new game or loading a clean save. It ,might be possible for the message to show while the screen is fading in black after loading.

Hi Sheson,

Ok, I believe I am only missing the Papyrus.0.log.

But if I enable it in Skyrim.ini, the Papyrus.0.log isn't appearing.

[Papyrus]
bEnableLogging=1
bEnableProfiling=0
bEnableTrace=1
bLoadDebugInformation=1
fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS=2000
iMaxAllocatedMemoryBytes=500000

I also created Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition\Logs\Script\Papyrus.0.log with an empty log file and restarted the game several times and the log file is empty. hmm

Now after starting the game the third time in a row, the on screen message 'Dyndolod successfully initialized' finally shows up, hmm odd.

All I can say is, I've been using DynDOLOD 3 for 3 years now, and every game save I load, it has always shown in the upper left side of the screen. It has only acted up now since I started using DynDOLOD DLL NG.

You are probably editing the wrong INI file if and the log is not really enabled. Make sure to use the MO2 INI editor and the setting is not overwritten by SkyrimCustom.ini or [plugin name].ini in the data folder. Or the log ends up in a different folder.

The logs uploaded so far do not indicate a problem related to dynamic LOD or DynDOLOD DLL NG.
Unrelated, there is a broken plugin that needs fixing. See https://dyndolod.info/Messages/Internal-File-FormID-Is-A-HITME

DynDOLOD DLL NG is not the same as using PapyrusUtil or DynDOLOD DLL. Check/upload the papyrus log before assuming there is anything wrong.

It is unclear how the game is started.
The message is supposed to only shows once when starting a new game or loading a clean save.
It might be possible for the message to show while the screen is still black after loading.

Thank You, I forgot to mention, I am running the Nolvus 5 mod pack. It does not use the normal folder structure that a regular install does. it "does" however come with Dyndolod already installed.. So I tried to just use that as an example one where things should go.  Not sure if it matters, but Nolvus downgrades Skyrim to 15.97... (I used 3.00 to run Dyndolod.. maybe too new for this version? ) they basically mirror your steam installation, downgrade it, and install mods into that mirror copy. That is what is actaully used through MO2 to run the game,  instead of the Steam install. Their folder structures are more of a "parallel" install instead of a "serial" install.. that is the best I can describe it... each mod has it's own path, and doesn't funnel down through something like Data\Meshes\Actor\Character...

I recently restarted Skyrim, so it will be no issue to start from a new game. Will be less complicated. I am going to test a couple things and will reply back... thanks for your help

EDIT: I thought I had BEES installed, but apparently not... I will try that, and report back

Hi Sheson I ran blubbos_trees_in_whiterun.esp through SSEEditQuickAutoClean and now no more FormID Is A HITME so it worked.

I have a different problem now... :(

I upgrade to the latest DynDOLOD 169 and now it's not even loading when I start, and I'm not doing anything different, than I've done for the past 3 years, so I'm really confused as to why nothing now.

For the past 3 years everytime there's an update, I made sure certain mods were updated that might be needed, then I've just ran over xLODGen, TexGen, DynDOLOD and loaded my game saves and it's worked, now I don't know what is going on.

The first time I tried to load a game save, it said Dyndolod.esm and Dyndolod.esp were missing. I also tried creating a save, deactivating dynlod, following the steps listed exactly in the MCM and it still didn't work.

Here are recent logs after I ran xLODGen, TexGen, DnyDOLOD Alpha 169 and loading a game save.

After making the last post above, I disabled all the mods in MO2, then enabled them over, reran Loot, now DynDOLOD.esm is at Priority 29, hmm I've also never had it at the bottom of MO2 like the first screen shot and then change to the top order either.

From the DynDOLOD.log:
dyndolod.esm not found
dyndolod.esp not found

DynDOLOD can not function as expected if the game does not load its plugins.
As reported by the DynDOLOD_SSE_log.txt log, there are plugins of version 1.71, while you are using a runtime that does not support them.
You probably need to install Backported Extended ESL Support. If it is installed, make sure it is working.
