Not initializing, No MCM, DynDOLOD.esm, DynDOLOD.esp or Occlusion.esp not found

Question

Posted

I know this is similar to a post from 2019, but I'm having a very similar issue. I've used DynDOLOD successfully many times before but as of recently updating my 1.5.97 Skyrim SE to 1.6.640, I'm having an issue with DynDOLOD in-game. I followed GamerPoets video step by step multiple times but the issue still persists where I start a new game after running TexGen and DynDOLOD, activating the .esm and .esps in MO2, and when I load an exterior cell, there is no "DynDOLOD successfully initialized" message nor is there any DynDOLOD in MCM. However, the LODs from tree mods and new locations load in correctly.

I've read a couple Reddit posts about this along with the other similar post on this forum related to this issue and can confirm that I have troubleshot and verified the following:

-SKSE 64 v2.2.3 installed for game version 1.6.640

-PapyrusUtil installed

-SKYUI installed

-RaceMenu installed

-SSEEdit shows 2 quests in DynDOLOD.esp

-SHESON_DynDOLOD_Alias.pex, SHESON_DynDOLOD_Quest.pex and SHESON_DynDOLOD_MCM.pex scripts are installed

-Installed correct version of DynDOLOD DLL that corresponds to 1.6.640

-DynDOLOD_Output activated in MO2 along with DynDOLOD.esm, DynDOLOD.esp, and Occlusion.esp

-Mod list order (left side): DynDOLOD Resources SE -> DynDOLOD DLL - Scripts -> DynDOLOD DLL - DLL -> TexGen Output -> DynDOLOD Output

-Verified Generate DynDOLOD in the advanced options was checked

-Waited 20 minutes after new game and still no message appeared

I apologize for the long list, I just wanted to go ahead and throw out everything that I have checked and verified up to this point. I have tried to check the Papyrus log as well, as was mentioned in the other post. However, this has proven to be another issue entirely. I modified the [Papyrus] section of Skyrim.ini to enable logging, but after several times in-game, I still haven't had the logs folder appear in Docs->My Games->Skyrim Special Edition. I was able to check the DynDOLOD.log in Docs->My Games->Skyrim Special Edition->SKSE and it says:

"DynDOLOD Plugin 2.45.0 for Skyrim Script Extender 64 2.2.2 for Skyrim Special Edition 1.6.640.0"

Would I be correct in assuming that switching from SKSE v2.2.3 to 2.2.2 would solve the issue because of this log?

Again, I apologize for the lengthy post, I just want to make it clear that I have tried multiple things to fix this issue and have had no luck at all. Is this something simple that I am overlooking? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if I should provide screenshots Thanks!

From the DynDOLOD log:

<Error: Game runtime version 1.6.640 does not support plugin _ResourcePack.esl version 1.71 with form ID < 0x800. Install Backported Extended ESL Support _ResourcePack.esl RP_DweRmLgMid01_DetailedCeilingCollision [STAT:FE012001]>

You need to install Backported Extended ESL Support

That should make the game be able to load all plugins in the load order, including the generated DynDOLOD.esm, DynDOLOD.esp and Occlusion .esp.

No way, this actually worked! DynDOLOD successfully initialized and everything is working perfectly, I had a feeling it would be a simple fix that I was overlooking. Thank you so much for your help!

Ran DyndoLod about 3 weeks ago, after getting all versions right, was able to complete and install. Ver 3.0... installed and removed a few mods so wanted to run it again. Everything seemed to go well, Installed TexGen output the the same folder, enabled in MO2. Same with DyndoLod, same folder, verified the files were the newer from 3 weeks ago. I have 253 active plugins.. when I load my saved game, it says "DyndoLod.esm, DyndoLod.esp, Occlusion.ESP and Synthesis.ESP not found"... They are there, and active, ran loot... load order has not changed. Is there anything I need to reset? I tried a clean save.. did not work. I started a new game and DyndoLod never loads. It is like MO2 just does not see the new files.

Any ideas are appreciated

Read https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Post-Logs which DynDOLOD log and debug log to upload when making posts.

Read https://dyndolod.info/Updating
When you create a new LOD patch from scratch, create a clean save as explained.

If the game can not find a plugins, it typically means the plugin does not exist in the data folder, is not listed in plugins.txt or is of a newer version that is not supported by older runtime versions. The last case can be addressed by installing Backported Extended ESL Support (BEES). The fact that BEES needs to be installed may be suggested by a log message.

Make sure all patches are generated and the load is "final" before generating LOD as explained in https://dyndolod.info/Generation-Instructions#Prerequisites

I can't seem to get my game to recognize that DynDOLOD is installed and running. I'm running Skyrim AE Steam version 1.6.640, and DynDOLOD version 2.45, Scripts v2.82.9, and Resources v3.00.

I've seen other places online that having different versions of the different DynDOLOD files can cause this issue... But I don't see older versions of the Scripts or Resources files available for download anywhere.

Does anyone have a link to where I can download them?

Moved to thread with the same problem. See above about BEES.

Read https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Post-Logs which DynDOLOD log and debug log to upload when making posts.
Also enable and upload the papyrus log as explained.
Also upload the DynDOLDO.log as explained https://dyndolod.info/Help/DynDOLOD-DLL#Troubleshooting

Do not post screenshots of MO2, instead use https://modwat.ch/ if you believe that is the load order matters.
The screenshot does not show the other 1400 plugins and 1600 mods.

Okay, here goes.

Modwat.ch

Papyrus.0.log 590.7 kB · 0 downloads DynDOLOD.log

Please let me know if I need to upload anything else!

Read https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Post-Logs which DynDOLOD log and debug log to upload when making posts.

The papyrus log reports: DynDOLOD.esp not found or too high in the load order
This message should have shown in the game, too.

Make sure DynDOLOD.esp is at load order ID 0xFD or lower. Load order ID 0xFE is reserved for light plugins only. 0xFF is for save data.
See https://dyndolod.info/Messages/Plugin-Limit

Also sort DynDOLOD.esm to be the last master plugin to load just before the first non-ESM.
Also sort Occlusion.esp to load after DynDOLOD.esp.

Yes.

How do I change a plug-in from FE or FF to FD? I'm not familiar with that function in MO2.

The DynDOLOD.esm plug-in has been moved to be the last .esm before my .esp plug-ins start (excluding CC content, which is locked from changes).

I moved the Occlusion.esp plug-in to be after DynDOLOD.esp.

Edit:

Since making these changes, my save is now crashing every time I try to load it.

crash-2024-05-15-17-11-11.log 75.9 kB · 1 download

https://dyndolod.info/Messages/Plugin-Limit
Disable, merge or in case of Skyrim Special Edition convert full plugins to light plugins if possible to reduce the number of full plugins.

The game will start with too many plugins without any error messages and it might even work for a while before crashing or exhibiting severe errors.

The crash log shows that DynDOLOD.esp is still at 0xFE, which is reserved for light plugins. A record in DynDOLOD.esp is being replaced by a record from an other light plugin also loading at 0xFE, causing an unresolved form ID error in the game, which causes the reported CTD.

Fix the load order having too many full plugins.

No.

Read https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Post-Logs which DynDOLOD log, debug log and papyrus log to upload.

See https://dyndolod.info/Help/DynDOLOD-DLL
DynDOLOD DLL SE/VR: For Skyrim Special Edition, Skyrim Special Edition GOG, Skyrim Anniversary Edition, Skyrim Anniversary Edition GOG, Enderal SE, Skyrim VR or Enderal VR the papyrus scripts are a separate download from the DynDOLOD.DLL SKSE plugins. Always download the DynDOLOD DLL [SE/VR] - Scripts archive and one of the DynDOLOD DLL [SE/VR] - [SKSE64/SKSEVR] Plugin archives for the SKSE version and game runtime version that is used.
The DynDOLOD DLL papyrus scripts need to overwrite DynDOLOD Resources.

Double check the DynDOLOD.esm and DynDOLOD.esp are actually loaded by the game.

In case the MCM works, check the DynDOLOD SkyUI MCM Main page for the Last Message. https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Post-Logs and in case of an error message you might be able to look it up on the https://dyndolod.info/FAQ

Thank you for the quick reply. I will double check everything and try these out later this evening and post any updates. Thanks again!

I was able to finally enable the Papyrus logging (turns out I had to change the .ini settings within MO2 instead of file explorer for it to work). I opened the log and searched for anything related to DynDOLOD, and there was nothing. I'm assuming this means that the DLL isn't even being loaded into the game? This is what I'm confused about though because I've installed both the DynDOLOD DLL SKSE plugin for my game version and the DynDOLOD DLL Scripts. I will try to reinstall them once again to see if something is just not installing properly.

You also mentioned "double check the DynDOLOD.esm and DynDOLOD.esp are actually loaded by the game", how exactly would I go about checking this? Is that what the Papyrus log is saying? Also, should I upload my logs here or would uploading them somewhere else be more appropriate?

Thank you again for your help, I'm learning this stuff as I go so I appreciate it!

Hi,

First of all I want to say thank you @sheson for making Skyrims visuals great with DynDOLOD.

I too have encountered this issue with DynDOLOD not initializing and not showing up in MCM. I haven't had this issue before but from nowhere it started and I have tried everything I can think of. From following troubleshooting guides and searching forums/reddit for a solution. Now I ask for your help. I cannot seem to resolve the issue on my own.

I have verified as mentioned by OP. I have also followed the instructions from the DynDOLOD 3.00 Alpha 167 from the best of my ability.

PapyrusUtil SE Version 3.9 for SKSE64 2.0.20 & Skyrim 1.5.97
DynDOLOD Resources SE 3.00 v.Alpha-47
DynDOLOD DLL NG and Scripts 3.00 v.Alpha-17 for Skyrim SE 1.5.X

There are no messages from the DynDOLOD papyrus scripts in the papyrus log. This typically means the DynDOLOD game plugins are not active in the load order.

There are also lots of error messages related to SkyUI and/or another mods MCM scripts you probably want to investigate

Thank you for the quick reply! I'll look into the other errors. Regarding the plugins, that is strange. The plugins are "checked" thus activated in MO2. Maybe it has to do with MO2 then. Not loading the plugins. What do you think?

Check that the plugins are enabled and sorted properly in the right pane.
