Patch 1.9 talk and issues.

Aiyen

Question

In order to try to keep the main thread clear in the wake of 1.9 then I figured it might be a good idea to have a separate thread for questions pertaining to it.

If you do have a full SR (v. 1.8) installed, then in order to update you just need the following.

Install the latest version of SKSE and TES5Edit

Reclean the official .esm´s (If nothing shows up then delete all esm from the data dir and go to steam and reverify the cache so it will redownload new ones. Then perform the cleaning step on those! You will also have to rerun the launcher once to create new registry entries for boss etc. Dont worry your old ini´s etc are safe within the overwrite folder so you will not have to create and copy in new ones!)

Download and Replace the unofficial patches

Update Community uncapper.

Update other mods as you find the time.

Rerun AV, FNIS, Bashed patch.

Play the game and report back issues if any.

(Edited version that takes into account most of the first page in this thread! Silly me! :D )

Note: Now a few weeks into the latest patch most mods are updated if they required it, the above will allow the game to at least start and play, so you have a good base to work on from if you already had a complete 1.8 SR installed.

Update.esm has changed. Therefore you DO need to reclean the base Bethesda files AT A MINIMUM to make sure your actually using the new records properly. If you ignore this then it will use the v1.8 cleaned ESM in your overwrite dir from the last time you cleaned and WILL cause issues.

Also as a note, Uncapper was updated for v1.9.28 so yes it still requires bAutoUpdate to be set but should have no issues with Legendary. (Not that you need it with uncapper... its essentially a I want to forget this and take other perks cheat made by Bethesda which I will not be using)

Hmm I do not see any changes in the update.esm.

Start MO, start Tes5edit, select only the update.esm (The path it reads from is the data dir so I assume this is the correct one)

Apply the filter

No identical to masters removed

No undeleted entries

So guess there is something I have misunderstood here

And yeh I agree with legendary skills... if you want to do that sort of cheat then just use the console... silly really.

I have not noticed any new textures.. and most are overwritten by texture packs anyhow so dont want to redo the whole thing.

(Sorry about the many edits but I think its better them many new posts!)

Okay did it for all esm.. only the dawnguard one had any changes (6 entries removed as identical.)

So made a backup and copied in the dawnguard.esm from the data dir to overwrite, and replaced the one in the data dir with the backup one and renamed.

So i'm really liking patch 1.9.  There is significantly less stuttering and it just seems much more stable (and im sure there are some (but not many) tes5edits that can be done to improve things further as well as mod updates yet to be done).  So much so that I disabled all my constrained normals and played the game for about an hour with no ctd and very little stuttering (only a tiny bit between riverrun and bfalls).
