Anthrasite
I recently followed the STEP guide for Skyrim SE and I'm about 120 hours into my modded playthrough, with few issues encountered. However, I've been progressing through the Dawnguard quests (as a vampire lord) and I've discovered that both Dawnguard members and vampires no longer attack me. I first noticed this at some point after starting the Dawnguard quest when I entered a random vampire dungeon or cave, and none of the vampires attacked. It's worth mentioning that they still deliver any lines of dialogue, so I've encountered several vampires that threaten to kill me, but just never attack. If a vampire is attacked, it will become aggressive and attack though. Since I am a vampire, I thought maybe this was intentional and was either vanilla behaviour or the result of some mod I didn't notice in the guide, so I continued without thinking much of it. However, I realized something was definitely wrong when I encountered Dawnguard members on several occasions, and they didn't attack me either, and instead acted like followers, fighting against anyone who attacked me. They also didn't become aggressive when I attacked them, and simply just let me kill them. While this doesn't make the game unplayable, it does ruin a lot of the Dawnguard content. I have no idea why this is happening and couldn't find anything on the forums or elsewhere online about this issue. Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? This can't possibly be expected, right? A couple of additional details, in case they're important in explaining what is happening: I'm currently completing the Prophet (Vampire) Dawnguard quest. I have the Deceiving the Herd radiant Dawnguard quest in progress. I am a blood-starved vampire. Please let me know if there's any additional details that might help. z929669
I won't be able to help with this issue specifically, because I dislike vampirism in Skyrim (and Oblivion... and have limited XP with these mechanics). Others will have some advice though. One thing you should share though is what version of Ste SSE are you running, and do you have a strict Step install or have you deviated to any degree from the guide? Any plugin could impact what you are experiencing, so even mod version changes or a custom mod (or not using one of the guide's plugins) could all impact this sort of thing. Having these answers will help those who are able to do so.
Anthrasite
Apologies for the late response. Actually spent most of yesterday in the hospital, so I wasn't really able to respond, but I'm back at home now and feeling better, so I'll get that information you suggested. My current Skyrim SE version is 1.5.97.0 There are a few mods I added and one I removed from the base STEP install. Everything else should match I believe. This should be the lists of mods I added/removed: Mods added: KS Hairdos SSE (hair) Realistic Hair Colors (hair) Salt and Wind (hair) Skin Features Overlay SE (skin overlay) iiENB (optional ENB preset) Look What You See (head tracking) Mods removed: Better Container Controls for SkyUI (UI)
Greg
If i remember correctly, Dawnguard members attack only if the player is in vampire form. The exception is that two or three vampire hunters from the Dawnguard may spawn attack the player even if the player is in human form. I think these are generally random events that occur while the player is on walkabout and may not happen if Isran is dead. If I'm not mistaken, most vampires should ignore the player if the player is a vampire. Notable exceptions include hostile vampires (I think these are generally spawned in towns and attack everyone and there may be others that I'm not remembering) and some named vampires that are part of a quest. Yeah, crap vampire system in Skyrim, LOL. Morrowind was the BEST. Very subtle, mysterious, and believable.
WiredNet
I'm having this same experience. I followed the STEP SSE 1.0 guide, installing everything noted, but then I've also added a bunch of cosmetic NPC overhauls and some Dark Brotherhood quests on top. I met with the Dawnguard, then the vampires. Eventually made my way to get the moth priest and make him my thrall. The Dawnguard around him didn't attack. I've now made it to the Unseen Visions with the moths and scrolls part, and the Dawnguard that showed up didn't attack me, either. I'm not complaining or asking for troubleshooting help, just saying I've got the same thing.
z929669
NPC overhauls most likely break this. Look for 'vampire' or 'dawnguard' patches for some of the non-Step mods.
