Bright Snow Covered Objects Help

Recommended Posts

First off, thanks for all the work you guys do! I've recently built a new pc and followed the guide to a T other than upping the graphics a bit and adding some armor mods. I can't figure out for the life of me why the snow covered roads, the snow covered ruins, some rocks, and some trees are so bright they are almost blinding. I searched through comments on the nexus for Majestic Mountains, Better Dynamic Snow, and Cathedral Landscapes trying to figure out what went wrong. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Here's an example of the roads, I can upload more screenshots if needed:

Enable Projected Diffuse Normals in the snow section in BethINI. If that doesn't work, read the fix described by the Majestic Mountains author.

Thank you for the response DoubleYou. I've confirmed that my benableProjecteUVDiffuseNormals is enabled with BethINI and I've attempted to replace projecteddiffuse.dds in the effects folder with different snow01.dds files from a couple different mods with no change. I could be replacing the wrong projecteddiffuse.dds file however. Should I be replacing this file in the Majestic Mountains effects folder? or the Better Dynamic Snow effects folder? Should I be copying the snow01.dds from Cathedral Lanscapes? Thanks for your attention and help!

Try using More Informative Console to click on the glowing models to narrow down what is providing the assets and then use MO data in right pane to track down the mod providing the model/texture if it's not obvious from MIC.

Thanks for the suggestion z929669. I've installed the mod and have tried it quick but I'm going to have to do some playing around to figure out what I'm looking at. Funny, I found another annoying bug while looking at the super bright snow in Morthal. Ugh..here I thought all I had was the bright snow issue, but now I see I have a water issue in Morthal. The first screenshot is more of the bright white blinding snow. The 2nd is the water...

Most of the time it is due to the ini setting not being right. Please verify in-game by typing the following in the console:

getini "bEnableProjecteUVDiffuseNormals:Display"

If it returns 1, you have that correct. If not, you most likely do not have the correct INI Path set in Setup in BethINI, which would cause the wrong file to be edited. MO2 users need to point to the correct profile INI location for profile-specific INI files.

Cathedral Landscapes should already have the correct projecteddiffuse.dds.

Interesting...you are correct. When in game and using console, it shows 0 instead of 1 so it's pulling the settings from a different ini. Looking at my path from BethINI, it seems correct according to the instructions, ie. "For standalone users, the profile will be stored in the user's /AppData folder (e.g. %LOCALAPPDATA%/ModOrganizer/Skyrim Special Edition/profiles)" However, when more closely examining it, it appears I have another folder /ModOrganizer/Step SkyrimSE at the same level as Skyrim Special Edition. I will tinker with it and see if I can get it fixed tonight and will update here.

Thanks again for your help!

Not to hijack my own thread, but any idea why my water in Morthal would have an obvious seam down the middle of it with clear water and muddy water as in my screenshots above?

Sweet, that was the issue. My BethINI wasn't pointing to the right ini so my edits weren't working in game. My snow looks great now. Thank you so much! Now to figure out this water seem...

      I already have Vortex overiding whatever conflicts come up so I don't need Wrye Bash to do that at all. All I need to do is a simple leveled list merge and I'm finding it difficult to follow the tutorials and guides I'm seeing on Youtube and other places. I can't find one tutorial that's specifically for just merging leveled lists. I wanted to be as safe as possible and just bash together the leveled lists and nothing else.
      I managed to get a bash patch up with a new game with the simplest tutorial I could find, but I feel like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.
      I have one made now and it looks like it's working, but can anyone give me just simple step by step guide just a safe bashed patch for just leveled lists. I removed USSEP and anything vanilla from the patch. Was I supposed to just leave those things in? If so do I bash it again and continue playing or do I start a new game?

      Recently switched to Win10 after playing SkyrimSE with mods on MO2 and Nexus Mod Manager on Win 7.
      Redownloaded all mods on MO2. When i try to start Skyrim SE or Skyrim SE script extender(skse64_loader.exe) through MO2(started as admin)-> crash on startup
      I only see a black window almost fullscreen labeled "Skyrim Special Edition" before it dissapears. No error.
      Crashing even with every mod disabled(In the plugins section)
      Starting skyrim SE or Script extender through the folder works. I can even get in the game and check my SKSE version. Everything is fine. But obviously no mods are loaded.
      I installed Skyrim on my F:\ and Mod Organizer on my C:\
      SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\SKSE\SKSE.ini contains:
      [Display]
      iTintTextureResolution=2048
      [General]
      ClearInvalidRegistrations=1
      ;EnableDiagnostics=1
      [Memory]
      DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768
      ScrapHeapSizeMB=256
      Same goes for AppData\Local\ModOrganizer\Skyrim Special Edition\mods\SKSE64 Data\SKSE\SKSE.ini
      As you can see i also added SKSE as a mod through MO2
      I cleaned Update/Dawnguard/Hearthfires/Dragonborn.esm with the xEdit auto tool and manually removed a cell in a mod due to a error. The only warning in MO2 remaining is that there is Data in my Overwrite Path. Only the cleaned mod is inside aswell as a log from the AchievementsModEnabler mod is in the Overwrite Section.
      Appdata\Local\ModOrganizer\Skyrim Special Edition\crashDumps is empty.
      So what am i doing wrong? Any help is very appreciated

      Need help with fixing CTD problems.
      i've been modding my game for a year now with none of these issues and as of late been having crashes with "BSTextureDB" and "BSLightingShaderProperty". I already wanted to change my mods so i thought heck it i'll start from scratch. Done that but half way trough i still have the same problems. Almost every report names a deferent mod... SMIM, High Poly Project, my grass mod, Majestic Mountains, NPC Overhauls, ect... these mostly  occurs at cities like Whiterun, Windhelm and Solitude, but isn't limited to it.
      The crash reports of the last 3 days are in the attachment area. Hope anyone could help me
