How do I run multiple instances of SSEedit

Question

Posted

I have Steam installed on my computer on 3 different drives. I have Skyrim SE installed in all three instances. I have Wrye Bash pointing to two of the Skyrim SE installes (drive E & F) and MO pointing to the third install (Drive G). Tonight I realized When trying to compare plugins with SSEedit and MO (drive G) that SSEedit was pointing to my E drive install of Steam instead of my G drive install of steam. Is there a way to get SSEedit to point to the desired Skyrim/Drive that I choose. In the end I may have SSEedit installed two or three times.

You can't have 3 different installs of Steam & SSE, there are registry entries made when you install the game and xEdit reads these to allow access to the game files.

Hello world.

What you need is two(or more, really) registry files, one for steam setup path( as backup) and second for  target game version path. Swap them at will, this makes sseedit see what You point at.

Edit this: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Bethesda Softworks\Skyrim Special Edition]

That's it, candy of insight stolen :).
