0 Neovalen Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 I'm downloading the update now, that is good to know! :) 1
0 Chillaxulating Posted October 18, 2017 Author Posted October 18, 2017 Using Boris tool my VRAM jumped to 15264 from 4064.
0 CrustyOldFart Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Mine jumped from 4064 to 16224. What's more is that I notice the difference quite a bit in the game. I've got the STEP Extended set up with most but not everything HQ options and I would normally be pinned at 60 fps but traveling outside from one cell to the next it would drop to the low 50s or sometimes high 40s and I could watch the grass render over a period of about a second or two. It was totally playable but irritating. Every time I crossed a cell boundary I could even hear my footsteps stutter when the game would basically freeze for a fraction of a second. NOW though, after the Windows update, it's super smooth, no stuttering footsteps. I can still see grass pop in or fade out but its much quicker. Really made it that much more enjoyable to play. Pretty happy that Windows addressed this issue with the update. 1
0 Chillaxulating Posted October 27, 2017 Author Posted October 27, 2017 Exactly what has happened with my game, only I had stepped down from the HD textures for most things originally, though with this update, I have re-STEP-ed my game (especially as there seems to be a lot of updates to the overall project since I initially did it) in HD where applicable. It is downright beautiful. 60FPS, No lag, no skips, it plays like the STEP project no doubt has intended all along. Very happy with this.
0 DoubleYou Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Still reads 4064 for me and I have the Creator's update.
0 LordOfLA Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 You need the Fall Creators update aka build 1709 - go grab the media creation tool and upgrade manually :)
0 DoubleYou Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Oh. Well that definitely was not made clear. I think I will wait for it to be rolled out then.
0 LordOfLA Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Yeah Microsoft wasn't thinking straight when calling it the "Fall Creators Update". Roll out started on 17th October. You're safe to upgrade manually with the media creation tool from Microsoft. You could be waiting 18+ months for an automatic roll out due to the way Microsoft staggers the roll out via windows update.
0 DoubleYou Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Ok, after the update, I have 12224, so that is definitely an improvement! Took them long enough.
