Wow... the editor is being a real pain in the ass right now. I've typed out this response 3 times now and every time it resets it to just the quotes and won't let me view the source. I really hope this one submits.

I've noticed this and some other issues too. Basically any time I try to trim/edit a quote in wysiwyg mode, it ends up leaving empty quote boxes. I have the best results if I edit any quotes in source mode, then flip back over to wysiwyg to finish my response.

It also does some weird things when trying to format text. Try this for example:

Type a line of text. Highlight that text.  Click strike-through  Go back to your line of text and hit enter twice. Click the strike through button again. It doesn't close the strike-through tag, it removes it from all of the text. Same thing with italics.

Bold and underline though, when you hit enter it closes the tag for you.

All of this is on chrome. Haven't tried other browsers yet.

I get the expected behavior in Firefox ....

Stopping created the MyBB CKeditor plugin from source, and he was planning a big update since the release of CKeditor 4.0 (I think)

I've also noticed that when copying and pasting pre-formatted from an outside source (say Nexus) into the wysiwyg editor, it places the cursor at the beginning of the pasted line instead of at the end.

To simply replicate this, go to Nexus, copy a mod title from its page (the bigger and bold text), and then paste it into the editor. It also at times pastes it at the top of the editor as Farlo described instead of on the line where you said to paste it.

This is using Firefox.

Paste into top can be avoided by manually placing the cursor in the desired position, typing any character and backspacing to eliminate it. The past will then occurs at this position. It is like you need to remind the editor where you are editing... and this usually occurs beginning with the second past after already pasting something.

Re: Quotes

This is due to the way CKEditor logic handles its determination of where elements should go and where they should be split. Since my goal was to mimic WYSIWYG entirely, I updated the handling of quotes to include the cite information (either when manually adding a quote, or viewing them in a reply). That single cite element is the source of the trouble in regards to splitting quotes (with multiple). Splitting a single quote block works fine, however.

Re: Paste

You need to make sure to place the cursor where you want it to go. When you switch off to another site or application to copy text, the editor seems to lose where it thinks the cursor should be. In Firefox, all I need to do is place the cursor explicitly by clicking and paste works fine (haven't double checked in Chrome or IE). I've also noticed that if you have text highlighted it will paste at the top, so if you are trying to replace text you will need to delete it before pasting.

Re: Post information disappearing

The only time I have seen this occur is when hitting tab (accidentally) which causes the focus to be lost. Consequently, hitting the backspace key is one known cause of the page being refreshed and your information being lost (and why only the quotes remain). When I can get around to updating the plugin, I'll see if there is something that can be done about tab (prevent focus from being lost).

Also, I don't know if you missed my post yesterday amongst the debating over the Legend wording but we need to find out if Deja Vu really works or not. Post.

I turned off a little while ago because it was not working for me.

Myself and Neo, have both reported it not working for us.

@Z,

How ironic...LOL

@S4N

It did the posting with the missing text again... I didn't hit backspace or tab. I didn't copy anything. Just typed and hit post and BAM....no typed text.

what browser?

Same here. Losing your post after submitting is quite interesting. I've never experienced that. Not sure how I could attempt to duplicate it to try and find the culprit.

Did you use "New Reply" or "Quick Reply" when this happened?

Happened to me several times when quoting other posts. Sometimes more than once in a row. I'm using Aurora 20.0a2.

I used the Quote button to replay. Typed in my text afterwards. Then clicked Post Reply. It only happens once in a blue moon.

Not sure if it's related, but I always tend to hit the save button on the editor since the Post Reply button is usually off my screen. I'll start using the button instead and see if that makes a difference.

You guys know I made a thread for all this stuff so we didn't have to clutter the changelog thread with forum issues right? =P
