Dyndolod adds back snow lod removed by Skyrim Climate Overhaul - Summer Edition

Question

Hey, I'm using Skyrim Climate Overhaul - Summer Edition to change the skyrim climate and give the game a fresh feel.

The climate overhaul removes all snow and ice from skyrim.

When I run DynDOLOD it does it's job, but it also adds back snow to some mountain lod, and snow lod on roads, ice bergs out in the water and so on.

Is it possible to make DynDOLOD NOT generate snowy and icy lods? Or to make it detect the SCO - SE mod and thus generate lod for the summer textures and stuff instead?

I take it you ran TexGen beforehand? I will need to with test for myself and probably add a couple rules or other things to make it compatible. I will post here again about it once I had the time. RL is a bit buy right now

Yes of-course, and with just texgen everything looks fine, its only after I run DynDOLOD and install the output data that the snow lod comes back.

The mod Skyrim Climate Overhaul - Summer Edition is AFAIK no longer really supported or updated, so I don't think that there is many people still using it. I was just wondering if you'd know of a quick fix or something.

I did by no means want you to waste your time on testing and make things compatible if that's something that takes time or hard work, for a mod that for all I know, I might be the only one who have any interest in getting to work with DynDOLOD.

I want to pressure you in no way, as I understand that RL can be busy and that you probably get hundreds of PM's and stuff each day about similar issues, so please, in no way take this question and this thread as an important matter. But if you one day should have the time, where this matter won't steal priority of any other cases, then I would appreciate you taking a look at the issue.

If you should have any problems with finding "SCO - SE" a day when you got some free time, here is a DL link to mega for v1.0 of the mod. Just to prevent you from having to waste time searching the mod up yourself.

Good luck in RL, and make sure you relax some once the things quiet down a bit for you! :)

I did a quick test with DynDOLOD 2.21 and didn't find a problem with snow on the mountains as you can see from the picture. The material snow shader is removed from the static LOD as expected.

I am not sure why that wouldn't work in your case if SCO - Summer Edition is the last overwrite for those base records.

You can check the export file for LODGen.exe DynDOLOD\Edit Scripts\Export\LODGen_Tamriel.txt for \tSnow (the \t is for tab if you have a text editor like notepadd++ that can search for it).

Only a 2 dozen pieces from the Dawnguard Castle have the snow shader. Objects like MountainCliff02_HeavySN have that tabulator position empty.

Depending on the installation option regarding glaciers/icebergs:

If you are using the 'Ice - Retextured' to cliffs option, I suggest to not install or delete the Meshes\lod\ folder from SCO - Summer Edition. Make sure these meshes do not overwrite DynDOLOD Resources.

However, keep Textures\lod\ folder from SCO - Summer Edition and have it overwrite DynDOLOD Resources.

TexGen Output should overwrite both DynDOLOD resources and all other mods including SCO - Summer Edition

If you are using the 'Ice - Standard' option, I suggest to not install or delete both the Meshes\lod\ and the Textures\lod\ folders from SCO - Summer Edition.

TexGen Output should overwrite both DynDOLOD resources and all other mods including SCO - Summer Edition

I'm going to give the SCO 1.21 a try and see if that's whats makes the difference. I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't know that AceeQ had his own site for his mods, and that there were a newer edition available.

All of this either means that I managed to do something wrong, or that there is a somewhat of a difference between SCO v1.0 and v1.21. I hope its a file difference and that I didn't bother you for no good reason at all:p

I'll be back and report on my results as fast as I get the chance. Until then, thanks for your incredible fast reply and throughout guide on the install, and for your quick testing, it's appreciated :)

Update:

Well, now I don't know quite what to say. I did a clean install of SCO 1.21 with DynDolod where I dropped installing the Meshes\lod and Textures\lod from SCO and used the standard ice files, and now everything works and looks perfect.

I can't say if this is because I skipped the installing the SCO LOD files, as you suggested, or if its because I went and used the newer version of SCO, but anyways, everything now works perfectly.

Thanks for your time and help, I could never imagine playing Skyrim without DynDolod again, so I was pretty close to just giving up on SCO all-together before I came here to ask for help.

Your a genius dude, and your helpful attitude towards the community and your quick and to the point support is simply awesome. Thanks again for all your help :)

So currently I'm trying to get the stockade mesh in the mesh/clutter/stockade/.nif to show up as full mesh in my lod generations. Because I'm creating new full models using Dyndolod. I've gotten everything else and every other type of model to do what I need it to. Ive tried .....esp/esm;formid I've tried the file path shortened and full all the way to be of the nif file being included.

4 is full 8 is full 16 is full. I've had this issue also with highherothgar floor models not showing ether... I spelled that wrong in here but yeah. I've tried looking for another rule or mesh mask the could be interfering and I can't find anything. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong?? I'm not trying to generate a lower poly lod I'm using this for other purposes.

So I've been trying to figure this out for awhile now, Azura's Shrine has no LOD at all, doesn't load in until I'm a sprinting distance away. I can't figure it out, I'm even using DynDoLOD, everything else is showing up just fine.

DynDOLOD DLL for Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, Skyrim Anniversary Edition and Skyrim VR
So far all versions of DynDOLOD use the SKSE plugin PapyrusUtil for the optional dynamic LOD in the game. Starting with version 2.45 there is now the alternative DynDOLOD DLL available.
The current DLL version is 2.45. It works with dynamic LOD generated by DynDOLOD Standalone 2.45 and newer.
Read the ..DynDOLOD\Docs\DynDOLOD_DLL.html included in DynDOLOD Standalone for an explanation about DynDOLOD DLL, installation instructions (overwrite papyrus scripts of DynDOLOD Resources) and how it works.
If there are problems with it, check DynDOLOD_DLL.html and the DynDOLOD FAQ first before posting.
If a DynDOLOD.DLL version is required for a game version that is not listed below, request it in this thread. First, search this thread if it has been requested already, though. The future will tell how long it takes to release updates.
Typically a new DynDOLOD.DLL is required for each new game version, but not each new SKSE version. For example a DynDOLOD.DLL compiled with SKSE64 2.0.9 also works with SKSE64 2.0.10 for the same game version.
