Colored Nails

A small description from my mod's page:

A retexture of UNP's and CBBE's original hands and bodies which sports colored nail polish with matching toenails, available so far: Black, White, Red, Pink, Cyan. If you like this mod, I encourage you to post a screenshot of your character with your brand new nails (of course an endorsment would be greatly appreciated as well).

User reviews:

Thanks for the toenails. Endorsed.

Not sure if this is lore friendly... People really paint their nails (much less toenails) in this time period?

Nail polish was used as early as 3000 BC in China, so it is possible I guess. I hate comparing Skyrim to our world, but it's all I have to reference.

Nail polish only came mostly in shades of green because of the abundance of malachite. It's Lore Friendly Sure' date=' but only Non Royal people would have anything other than a green shade.[/quote']

Following that, one could use charcoal to get black, snowberries to get red, purple mountain flowers extract to get pink and so on. By the way I didn't know nail polish was dated 3000 BC, I mean I knew it was not something recent but 5k years ago is quite a while actually :)

I'm a fan of these nails since their release. I'm using a body variety system (TSOL), where you can give a different body (mesh & tex) to every single female in Skyrim, so I'm always in need of different textures to assign :D

And for the lore friendly aspect: Women of all ages and periods took care of their beauty, that's well established by archeologic findings.

I really doubt something like this will make it into STEP, especially since it relies on UNP or CBBE. We decided a while back that we're not going to touch all the body and beautification mods. Not only is it highly subjective, but also means we'd have to limit all the armor mods to those that support the new bodies. Not to mention any of the lore and Vanilla friendliness arguments.

The final word on it is, of course, up to you guys.

As for bodymod support I think 99% of people are using one (UNP) or the othe other (CBBE), as for the armors, aside some particular CBBE armors I still have to see an armor (vanilla or not) which doesn't fit the regular UNP body.

On a totally separate note, I think S.T.E.P. should include at least the basic beautifications mods (UNP or CBBE and Apachii Hair) since practically everyone likes them and use one or the other, in my opinion.

99% of people use either UNP or CBBE? I think your math might be a little off.

Practically everyone likes and uses them? Well, I don't. And I wager most people here don't as well.

I sincerely hope you were joking when you said STEP should add UNP/CBBE.

I really think you need to read the STEP Mandate and what STEP is about. Copied from the Mandate:

Core STEP is about enhancing vanilla Skyrim for the PC ...

  • Texture replacements at minimized performance cost and true to vanilla Skyrim
  • Continuity of all in-game textures, reducing immersion-breaking variation in texture quality (i.e., comparable resolution and style across all armors, weapons, clutter, terrain, etc.)
  • Graphical mods (ESPs) including new content that "fits" vanilla Skyrim
  • Gameplay & sound mods that improve the consistency and the perceived intent of vanilla Skyrim
  • Interface mods that improve the menus and UI.
  • Fix mods that truly "fix" malfunctioning aspects of vanilla Skyrim.
STEP is NOT about ...

  • Content mods that conflict with vanilla Skyrim and/or TES lore
  • Mods that change the perceived intent of vanilla Skyrim
  • Sex mods or female body replacement mods (this includes all body replacement mods)
  • Music replacement mods
  • Gameplay overhauls
All the body mods you just listed (UNP or CBBE and Apachii Hair) break vanilla Skyrim and thus breaks the STEP Mandate. With that said, you can use them personally as much as you like, but they won't be included in STEP. I actually use ApachiiSky Hair myself (these are textures copied from The Sims), but I realize something like this mod will never be in STEP because it goes against what STEP is all about.

Apachii hair is awful, doesn't seem lore-friendly at all. In fact, it looks like it came straight out from the land of the Sims.

I don't understand how you think coloured nails should be a lore-friendly thing in Skyrim either. I can't imagine any medieval Scandinavians painting their nails to look pretty, not to mention that it looks ridiculous in game.

UNP and CBBE are a mater of taste and completely unnecessary to most people, not to mention that they are adult mods, so wouldn't be included in STEP anyway.
